Unicamp professor collaborates on the creation of a Portuguese course at the Uzbekistan State University of Foreign Languages

Professor Simone Hashiguti, from the Institute of Language Studies (IEL) at Unicamp, is visiting the Uzbekistan State World Languages ​​University (UzSWLU) to collaborate on the implementation of Portuguese language teaching at the institution. This initiative marks a new stage in academic cooperation between Brazil and Uzbekistan.

During the visit, a meeting was held with the UzSWLU rectorate, which welcomed the professor and highlighted the university's satisfaction with the launch of the Portuguese language course. The meeting also discussed plans for the course's development and new possibilities for cooperation in research, teaching, and academic mobility between the two universities.

The agenda also included a meeting with representatives of the Brazilian Embassy in Tashkent, including Fabiano Burkhard, head of the Science, Technology and Innovation Sector of the diplomatic mission, held on September 10. The meeting was attended by UzSWLU Rector Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation A. Nasirov, Head of the Department of International Cooperation Kh. Yuldashev, and other university officials.

The parties discussed specific initiatives to continue teaching Portuguese, strengthen its position in the Uzbek education system, and produce modern teaching materials, as well as joint cultural and scientific events to expand collaboration between Brazil and Uzbekistan.

According to the Uzbek university, establishing Portuguese language teaching in the country represents an important step in training professionals capable of working in areas such as diplomacy, economics, international law, culture, and tourism, opening up new opportunities on the global stage.
