On May 7, the Executive Board of International Relations (DERI) of Unicamp received representatives from Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) and the company China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) Brazil for a meeting that focused on expanding international cooperation in the areas of engineering, technology and railway infrastructure.
The BJTU delegation was composed of Guohua Song, director of National School for Elite Engineers, and Qiang Sun, deputy director of the same institution. Representing CRRC Brazil, Li Bangyong, general manager; Chen Bo, technical manager; and Yan Bingpeng, business manager, participated.
Present on behalf of Unicamp were Rafael Dias, director of International Relations; Gao Qinxiang, Chinese director of the Confucius Institute; Arnaldo Cesar Walter, director of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FEM); Paulo José de Albuquerque, director of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urbanism (FECFAU); and Jéssica Misael, international cooperation assistant at DERI.

During the meeting, Rafael Dias highlighted the diversity and excellence of Unicamp’s engineering programs and proposed the formalization of a new agreement with the National School for Elite Engineers of the BJTU. He also suggested the construction of an integrated partnership between Unicamp, BJTU and CRRC, focusing on academic, technological and industrial collaboration.
BJTU expressed interest in strengthening academic collaboration and mentioned its participation in major projects, such as the proposal for a transoceanic railway between Brazil and Peru. CRRC, in turn, presented its expansion plans in Brazil, including the implementation of 12 new railway lines in the state of São Paulo by 2034, including the line between Campinas and São Paulo. The company also expressed interest in establishing partnerships with Unicamp for training, internships, exchanges and technology development, such as 3D printing for train maintenance.
The meeting ended with the agreement between the parties to formalize a cooperation agreement focused on internships and collaborative research projects.
